Hiroe Kobayashi is a jazz vocalist who began studying piano at the age of four and later studied jazz piano under Masaaki Imaizumi at Senzoku Gakuen Junior College.
After graduating, she studied vocal performance with renowned jazz singer Kimiko Ito.

After performing with an a cappella group, she launched her solo career as a jazz singer.
In addition to songs with lyrics, she also performs instrumental music using her voice as an instrument, creating a distinctive style that blends melodic sensitivity with improvisational freedom.

She is known for her expressive phrasing, refined sense of harmony, and the ability to move seamlessly between lyrical storytelling and instrumental-like vocal expression.

In recent years, she has been particularly drawn to Brazilian and Latin American rhythms and vocal techniques, blending them with jazz to explore new sonic territories.

Her expressive phrasing and improvisational freedom have earned high praise from audiences, with audiences noting her “genre-crossing musical adventures” as a hallmark of her artistry. 

As a member of various units and groups, she has participated in live performances and music projects both in Japan and internationally.
Her work also includes music production for corporate commercials, promotional videos, film scores, and planetarium productions.
